Wedding Limo Round Trip
A person’s wedding day is probably the most eventful day of their life; sometimes for the wrong reason. Marianne Georgiev and Adam Gutowsky dreamed about their wedding day for years. But when their dream day arrived two weeks ago, it ended in a nightmare when the couple alleges that a Mississauga limousine hire company refused to drive them home unless they paid an extra $200.
Georgiev claims she and her husband booked a stretch SUV wedding car from Ambassador Limousine Inc. several months in advance of her Aug. 9 wedding for $1,677.50. The bride and her bridesmaids were to be picked up at her parents' Aurora home at 11:30 a.m. They were to be driven to St. Clements church in Don Mills for the ceremony, then later to Edwards Gardens for photos before heading back to the church hall.
Finally, Georgiev and Gutowsky, 23, were to be picked up at 1:30 a.m. after the reception and driven home to Pefferlaw. But when the limo arrived at the church, Georgiev claimed the driver told them they had to pay an additional $200 for the round trip to get home. Although the limo driver was apologetic, he told the couple that he only made $12 an hour and they would take the $200 from his pay if he didn't collect it.
When she called the driver's boss, Georgiev claims that the manager was extremely rude and told her to either pay the $200 or take a taxi home. Understandably upset, the newlyweds called Toronto Police. But while two officers responded to the call, they were unable to persuade the manager to change his stance. Georgiev and her husband ultimately relented. They opened one of the cards they had received as a wedding gift and used the cash inside to pay the extra cost.
