Wedding Limousine Hire..
You traditionally associate things like limo hire with special events like birthdays and weddings, and traditionally these are happy events. Tragically, a Derby mother has described how her eight-year-old son "married" his girl friend the day before he died of leukaemia.
Given only weeks to live, cancer patient Reece Fleming proposed to his "special friend" Ellie Pursglove at a party. After she accepted, their parents organised a special ceremony at Reece's family home in Mackworth for the couple to tie the knot. He died the next day with his family.
Reece's mother Lorraine Fleming, 28, said, "He was so proud of her." Eight-year-old Reece was diagnosed with leukaemia in July 2004, aged four. He battled the disease for four years until May this year when doctors told him he only had weeks to live.
He had a list of ambitions he was determined to fulfil before dying, including a ride in a Ferrari, spending a day at a fire station and holding a pirate-themed party for friends. ‘Marrying’ his long-time school sweetheart was his last dream.
Mother-of-three Lorraine said when her cancer patient son was only given a short time to live, she and his stepfather Mick Thompson, had tried to help him do as much as possible, including arranging a wedding ceremony so he could marry his sweetheart.
Reece's mother and Ellie's mum had even taken the young couple out to dinner, complete with a ride in the mayor's limousine. Formalising the occasion, Reece was wearing a tuxedo and Ellie a prom dress.
She said eight-year-old Ellie had eventually agreed to Reece's proposal via a text message and the families organised a wedding ceremony, complete with rings, pastor and limousine. According to his mother, after the ceremony Reece was completely at peace and told her, “Mum, I can go now.”
